When it comes to the use of your social media as a brand, there are certain things to remember and follow in order to stay consistent and grow your platform. You may also come to realise that some of the rules you had thought you should follow are as important, aren't as essential for your platform.

Social Media Do’s


1. Take into account your following growth and see what is working well, and what is not working well.

  • This can also help you to see what type of audience you are forming and how to cater to them best.

2. Engage with your audience regularly.

  • The more you engage with your audience, the more likely you are to build stronger brand loyalty and establish meaningful connections.

3. Take breaks.

  • Social media can be overwhelming at times. Ensuring that you take breaks is essential for the consistency and growth of your social media presence.


Social Media Don’ts


1. Don’t get caught up in the number count of your followers.

  • A platform can easily have many followers but have little to no interaction. Place your interaction with your audience as one of the highest priorities, and the followers will come.

2. Post and ghost.

  • By this, we mean posting on your platform and then disappearing. Dedicate some time during the day to be active. Respond to any comments or messages and also engage with other platforms posts too.

3. Don’t post inconsistently.

  • The inconsistency of your posts will stunt the potential growth of what your brand has to offer. If there is something unique about what your brand can offer, show up consistently so that more people can support you. There is space for everyone who is willing to see it.
